「Tenugui Bewitched Bite」
Can you make out the riddle? In Japanese, a words meaning can change depending on the kanji used. Humorously, the word Ookami can mean both “big bite” or “wolf”. The Japanese writings on the left side say “Ookami Gakaru”, literally translating to “Big Bite Possession”. Adding another layer to the riddle, “Kamigakaru”, means to be “possessed by God”. This layered phrase paired with the demonic wolf motif provides Seppuku Pistol fans something to really sink their teeth into!
This original tenugui (hand towel) has been dyed with the traditional method “Chu-sen". Popularized in the Meiji Era (1868-1912), Chu-sen is a uniquely Japanese method of dyeing fabric - typically used for tenugui (traditional hand towels) and yukata (summer kimono). Heat may affect the dye, and it is not advised to dry in direct sunlight or dry tumble dry.
