Nanbu Sashiko: 9-inch | Nagoya Obi | Pure Silk (Ready-made)
This obi is made using the diamond stitching technique, a traditional sashiko technique from the southern part of Aomori Prefecture.
This is a traditional technique that is said to have been around for about 200 years.
The sturdy linen fabric is embroidered with thick cotton thread, giving it a cute, warm, knitted feel.
The repeated diamond pattern is also a traditional unit pattern, and the four-leaf clover pattern in the central row is called "ume no hana," representing an open plum blossom in the center and buds above, below, left and right.
It would be nice to coordinate this outfit in early spring and get ahead of the plum season.
