Single Dokko Black and White (Nishimura Orimono): Nagoya Obi | 8 Sun | Hakata-ori | Kenjo pattern | Pure silk (tailoring fee included)
The Hakata 8-inch obi "Ippon Dokko" is made by Nishimura Orimono, a long-established Hakata store that has been in business for 160 years since the Edo period.
The obi, which is easy to match with any kimono color and pattern, and has a crisp and elegant look that resembles classic patterns, is a staple item at KAPUKI.
The dokko pattern is based on the motif of an esoteric Buddhist ritual implement or Buddhist altar piece that is used to destroy worldly desires and express the bodhisattva mind.
By using a lot of thin warp threads and weaving in thick weft threads, the fabric becomes thick and has horizontal ridges.
This prevents slipping, making the obi easy to tie and less likely to come loose.
