Single Dokko Black and White (Nishimura Orimono): Nagoya Obi | 8 Sun | Hakata-ori | Kenjo pattern | Pure silk (tailoring fee included)
The Hakata 8-inch obi "Ippon Dokko" is made by Nishimura Orimono, a long-established Hakata store that has been in business for 160 years since the Edo period.
The obi, which can be easily matched with any color and pattern of kimono, has a crisp and elegant look that is characteristic of classical patterns and is a staple item at KAPUKI.
The dokko pattern is based on the motif of an esoteric Buddhist ritual implement or Buddhist altar piece that is used to destroy worldly desires and express the bodhisattva mind.
By using a generous amount of thin warp threads and weaving them with thick weft threads, the fabric has a thick texture with horizontal ridges, which acts as a non-slip material, making the obi easy to tie and less likely to come loose.
